Video of artist Adele Spiers on the INSART workshop
“I have produced a film, which is accompanied by words to express my observations, impressions and experiences of the LLP-Grundtvig funded INSART Liverpool project.
The film consists of a video of a pathway to the river Mersey and the river itself, then in particular the
waves. An image that I created to represent the evolution of the project, the young people and their
evolution through the creative experience- as I experienced it.” – Adele Spiers

Broken Barriers – INSART performance
Set in the central Via Maqueda of Palermo, Broken Barriers is the first final performance of the INSART workshop, an EU-funded project within the Longlife Learning Programme – Grundtvig Action of the European Commission. The aim of the artistic movement workshop, just as that of the INSART project, is to allow young boys and girls from Italy or with a migrant origin to explore a new dimension, to increase their competences and to discover that anyone can be an artist a little bit. Broken Barriers, just like the other two performances, has been designed by the youngsters themselves, who have decided to express themselves in a public setting, in a very spontaneous way.

INSART: backstage video on the artistic workshop
Dancer Soad Ibrahim led the Italian dance and body movement workshop. It resulted in three video performances (check them out here) and greatly contributed to intercultural exchanges and increased self-awareness in its seventeen participants, both Italian and with a migrant background. As one of the interviewees put it: “I noted how there were differences amongst participants in this workshop…But they were not real differences. We were all like a big family in this workshop!”.
INSART: interview to dancer Soad Ibrahim
In the framework of the LLP-Grundtvig funded project INSART, dancer Soad Ibrahim comments on the project’s artistic workshop, which she led in Palermo in October 2014. In this video in English, she recalls some anecdotes of the workshop and broadly describes the body movement and expression exercises she used.
